Our partners: hand in hand for more responsibility

Long-term changes in the coffee world can only be achieved if all stakeholders join forces to promote them.

Hand in hand for more responsibility

Tchibo has teamed up with many other stakeholders, from traders to coffee growers, to set up an international association - the 4C Association, whose slogan is: 'For a better coffee world'. As a starting basis, 28 standards were developed with which we want to make the coffee world more responsible. These measures stipulate, for example, that rainforests will be protected from coffee cultivation, children should attend school and wastewater should be treated. At Tchibo we only consider a coffee to be ‘responsibly produced' when it meets at least these standards.

Seals of approval for responsibly produced coffee quality

We cannot be everywhere in the coffee growing countries. Therefore, we work with partners on the ground - independent international organisations. We are currently partnered with the Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade. In addition, local community groups help the coffee growers implement the requirements necessary to produce organic quality. When you see these seals on our coffee packaging, you can be assured that during coffee cultivation the environmental protection and social guidelines were met - and that this has been verified by an independent organisation.
