Responsibly manufactured products

Tchibo sees itself as a responsible member of society. Our overarching principles are codified in our corporate values, such as the preservation of social values in our everyday work and treating others with respect. We regard responsibility to all stakeholders as something that is self-evident. Stakeholders include our customers, our employees, our competitors and business partners, trade unions, government agencies and NGOs as well as our suppliers.

Mastering variety in a responsible way

Like most large retailers, Tchibo has numerous business partners and suppliers in many countries around the world. An important element in cooperating with these suppliers is to ensure decent working conditions in the factories that work for us. To best achieve this task, Tchibo has set up a social programme that monitors the compliance social standards and promotes continuous improvement locally. Our social programme consists of four modules:

1. The commitment of our suppliers to ensure human production conditions as stipulated in our Social Code of Conduct

2. The implementation of social audits to monitor compliance with the Social Code of Conduct at producer level

3. The qualification of suppliers by providing active support in improving working conditions

4. The validation of our social management system, i.e. having an external independent non-governmental organisation review the effectiveness of Tchibo’s social programme
